One of the things I'm considering to encourage interesting and in-character play in Shadowrun is the use of Achievements. In a manner similar to console titles, each achievement requires a set condition that, when met, grants a certain reward -- in this case, Karma (XP). I got the idea from Karasin Black on the Shadowrun Forums. I've come up with three categories for achievements -- Meta/Roleplay, in which players are rewarded for character developement/roleplay/getting into character/helping with the session; Plot, in which players are rewarded for accomplishing things in the plot or through the course of play; and Combat, in which players are rewarded for accomplishing interesting or amusing things over the course of a combat. Each achievement can only be awarded once.

Limits in SR5
I've already briefly discussed the concept of limits in SR5. Here are the formulae:
Mental Limit: (LOG x2 + INT +WIL) / 3
Physical Limit: (STR x2 + BOD + REA) / 3
Social Limit: (CHA x2 + WIL + Essence) /3
Players, compare these to your existing character and feel free to discuss. As a reminder, this determines the maximum number of successes on any roll fitting within this category.

Fed Pols, Incorporated
It is July of 2052. You are employed by the Federal Capitol Police (FedPols). Whether you're a veteran of the force or a rookie, you're currently on assignment to Precinct 1, the City of Washington. You expect to be assigned to this precinct for up to a year, at which point you will be rotated out. Alan Adams (D) is president of the united states, following up a Democrat-Technocrat joint ticket with Thomas Steele (T).

A lull
Sorry I've been absent for a few weeks. I'm looking to gear back up and start updating this regularly again, but my first priority is completing testing on the Shadowrun campaign I'm about to kick off on the 22nd. Over the next few days I should be sorting out some player aids and posting them here. You should also find I'm starting to backdate some Shadowrun material.
