Reminder: Dwarven Forge

The Dwarven Forge Kickstarter ends Tuesday. As a reminder, Dwarven Forge is selling professional-grade industrial-strength terrain that you can hit with hammers. Not that I'm suggesting you should hit the terrain with hammers or anything. It's very cheap, and there are nice additions.

Kickstarter: Secret Weapon Tablescapes

A few years ago, Games Workshop released a modular board, and I was intrigued, but it didn't really fit what I wanted. I've been looking into modular tabletop terrain for both fantasy and science fiction games for a bit now, and this Kickstarter has perfect timing -- modular sci-fi boards of more modern theme, and less of an "open battlefield" theme.

Dyad

There's some game called Dyad.  I'm not sure what it's about, but I highly recommend watching the announcement trailer.

Easy Cyberpunk Terrain

As I look toward fleshing out my Shadowrun campaign, I find myself toying with the idea of running using miniatures -- something I've not done in a modern or futuristic setting before.  In my searching, I stumbled across a site I initially found when looking to make Warhammer 40k terrain -- a site dedicated to a game called Combat Zone.  On this site, they show how to make 28mm cyberpunk terrain primarily out of old Plasticville model railroad sets, and the results are stunning.  Pictures, and the link, after the jump.

Mantic Games: Deadzone

Mantic Games is at this point largely known for its proxies of obsolete Games Workshop models, such as zombies or Chaos Dwarves.  Last year, they ran a Kickstarter program that allowed their fantasy game to move past that, teasing beautiful angels, werewolves, ogres, and other sculpts that weren't Games Workshop-related.  They then announced Dreadball, an updated, science-fiction focused dreadball.  In comparison, the releases for their science fiction line, Warzone, were rather lackluster.  I was nonplussed by their space Orkcx and space Dwarves, and their humanoids seemed to try to just be another Imperial Guard world army in 40k.  Now, though, Mantic is teasing a step out of Games Workshop's shadow with their science fiction line.  In a little over one week, they will have a kickstarter for a science fiction skirmish game, Deadzone.

Shadowrun Draft: North Virginia

This serves as a draft of a section of the setting information for my Shadowrun campaign.  Information is largely collected from the Sixth World Wiki.
On November 10, 2034, Virginia pulled itself from the Union, creating the Confederation of American States and dividing the United Canadian and American States.  As part of that treaty, the District was re-joined with Arlington and Alexandria counties, which left D.C. proper in 1846, and Virginia was bisected.  From as far west as West Virginia and as far south as the Rappahannock, Virginia largely split in two.  The move was welcomed from residents that were joining the new Federal District of Columbia, but the residents of North Virginia (NVA), or Occupied North Virginia, were largely unpleased.

Friday Blues

Work's been nuts.  Home's been nuts.  Haven't had the chance to blog yet.  My bad.

Review: Anker USB Battery

After seeing this kickstarter, I knew I had to find something similar for my trip to PAX East. With the expectation that I'd be in lines or waiting for 6 hours or so a day, I knew my DS, iPod and cell phone batteries weren't going to hold up. Enter the Anker Astro 3E 10000mAh battery pack.

Kickstarter: Dwarven Forge

I've had my eye on Dwarven Forge since Penny Arcade posted pictures of an elaborate painted dungeon, complete with accessories and terrain.  Dwarven Forge has always had gorgeous sets, hand-made from resin.  There are two things that historically kept me from buying in -- the hefty cost, and the heavy weight.  They're currently addressing both of these by casting out of a rubberized material called Dwarvenite.  Kickstarter is currently funding the new molds and the advancement necessary to do both -- and the rewards are steep.

Kickstarter: Torment

Given the Torment Kickstarter is about to expire, I figured I'd best explain what it was more than my brief blurb.  Keep in mind, the Kickstarter ends Friday, so you've got two days to make up your mind.

Kickstarter: Freeport

Freeport: City of Adventure. A module for D&D 3rd edition that ballooned into something more, filled with buckling swash and hauling keel. The creators have developed it into a full on campaign setting, and are releasing it for Pathfinder. You can find it here. Keep in mind, there are only a few hours left for this Kickstarter.
