io9's Golden Rules of Worldbuilding

I find io9 to be a wonderful site about science fiction/fantasy in general.  They also provide great inspiration for stories, plots, and the such.  Occasionally, they discuss writing and developing fiction, and I found a rather old post of theirs establishing rules of worldbuilding.

Here are the rules:

1. Research
2. Make the ground rules for reality
3. Don't obsess over consistency
4. Consider what's good and bad about your world
5. Create characters who are plausibly the products of your world
