How to Spot a Botter

Over the past two weeks, I've noticed specific repetitive patterns of peculiar players in Guild Wars that aren't particularly involved in the game world.  Because GW2 bots are not particularly advanced at this point, they're rather easy to notice.  Here's how.

GW2 bots are particularly easy to spot.  The scripts are fairly simple, and involve repetitive keystrokes because no one has programmed a full "bot" yet.  Because they don't account for saving themselves or running waypoints, they stand in one place naked (so that they don't wear armor), usually a high value quest area like the end zone of quest chains, tab-targetting and auto-attacking.  They are often under-leveled, and spend a lot of time dead.  This particular one is a level 10 sitting in a level 15 Norn area where a huge veteran spawns and slaughters a lot of players every 30 minutes or so.  In the meantime, there are dozens of small kills to be had.
To report them, select them, right click their portrait, and click "Report."  From the drop down, choose "Botting."

The TL:DR version:
  • Naked
  • Stationary
  • Autoattacks only
  • High-value quest area
